Our team of experienced and highly skilled cardiologists is dedicated to providing high quality accessible cardiac care.

Dr. Sherali Rahim, MD FRCPC FACC

Corporate Chief of Cardiology, Lakeridge Health
Dr. Rahim is the current division head of cardiology at Lakeridge Health and the current division head of cardiology at the Oshawa Clinic Group which is Canada’s largest group medical practice. He has been a cardiologist at Lakeridge Health Oshawa since 2010 and is also an invasive cardiologist at St. Michael’s Hospital. He is an assistant professor of medicine at both Queen’s University and the University of Toronto.  He has published as first author in many high impact medical journals including the Lancet, Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA), and Journal of the American College of Cardiology (JACC).

Over the years, Dr. Rahim has gathered numerous awards and scholarships including:

  • Queen’s University Specialist Teacher of the Year Award

  • Multiple distinguished preceptor awards

  • Jeff Ginsberg Subspecialty Resident award given to the one resident at McMaster University who consistently displays outstanding performance in clinical rotations, excellence in teaching, research and exemplary professionalism and commitment to academic achievement

  • Gold Medal Winner for the McMaster University Annual Research Competition

  • University of Toronto, Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre Annual Research Competition Winner

  • 9 scholarships during undergraduate training

Outside of medicine, Dr. Rahim also designed and created a health care related software program as a high school student which was used across North America.  He was interviewed in various media outlets for this including the Toronto Star and the Discovery Channel.

His training includes:

  • Bachelor of Science, enrolled in Cell and Molecular Biology – University of Toronto – Graduated 1st in his class with high distinction and awarded the Graduation Prize in Life Sciences given to the top graduand in the Division of Life Sciences.

  • Doctor of Medicine – McMaster University

  • Internal Medicine Postgraduate Residency Program – University of Toronto

  • Cardiology Postgraduate Residency Program – McMaster University

  • Interventional Cardiology Fellowship – Mayo Clinic

 

Dr. Ali Andalib, MSc MD FRCPC

Ali AndalibDr. Andalib completed his undergraduate degree, Master of Science degree (with a focus on cardiac arrhythmias), medical school, and residency training in Internal Medicine and Cardiology at McGill University in Montreal. He then moved to Boston, Massachusetts to complete additional training in Interventional Cardiology at Beth Israel
Deaconess Medical Centre, Harvard Medical School, before returning to Canada. He currently is part of the Cardiac care team at Lakeridge Health, where he serves as the Cardiology site lead in Oshawa.

He is an adjunct assistant professor of Medicine at Queen’s University. He is also a clinical associate at St. Michael’s Hospital as an invasive Cardiologist. He is committed to providing high quality, evidenced-based cardiac care to his patients.
